As you can see from the chart, women are underrepresented in STEM all around the world. For example, according to catalyst.org, women represent only about 35.1% of degrees earned in the STEM fields in the United States."In 2013, only four countries in Europe could claim to have at least 15 percent of all STEM graduates be female, while in Chile in 2014, it was 20 percent." Women accounted for less than half of college graduates in natural sciences, mathematics, and infomation technologies in Europe in 2015. In places like Australia, Europe, Canada, the United States, India, and Japan, men dominate the STEM fields.
Girls in STEMAccording to the TED Talk video, girls are often discouraged or told by society what to do. They aren't supposed to play with legos or know how to code. Girls can do these things if they want to. They can break the gender barrier so more women can work in the STEM field.
